Aye Mammoth is a rock band from Middle TN circa 2011. Their initial sound was rooted in hard rock of the 60's/70’s and influenced by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, Deep Purple, and Thin Lizzy. Aye Mammoth has released a myriad of concept albums spanning blues, punk, thrash, doom, and stoner rock musical genres. Their music consists of heavy riffs backed by conceptual, lyrical content that focuses on storytelling inspired by themes of mythology, science fiction, fantasy, horror and the supernatural.

Their newest EP, Return, is a big, fat, sludgy Doom record, and we dig it for that. It has the dirty, big, bluesy guitar tone of Tony Iommi with a touch of ‘90s grunge in the way of Alice in Chains. It’s a great record to crank super loud, crack a beer and clean your damn house. Listen on Bandcamp.

The Midland Affair is a three-piece alt rock band formed in Texas in 2023. The band is signed to Native Analog Records, alongside other bands, such as Division Fallacy and Aron Drum.

The band is releasing one song per month until the official release in June, 2024. They pull their intended style together perfectly in the singles they have released, and it definitely scratches a certain itch for us. It’s reminiscent of oughts post hardcore and style and in production. Check it out here.

This week, we’re listening to Summer Medication by Nashville Band Hushhh. Formed in 2023, Hushhh is an alternative rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. With loud, spacey guitars and thought- provoking lyrics, the sound of Hushhh will appeal to fans of The Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Hum.

This Ep is a great combo of emo/shoegaze/post hardcore, but it still feels new and fresh. With Lush guitars and impressive drums, we’re digging this EP. Listen on Bandcamp.

This week’s rec. is for Texas Shoegaze/”Grungegaze” band, Youlogy. This album is refreshingly classic shoegaze with 808s right off the bat. You like big guitars? They got big guitars. There is a bit of Deftones going on here as well, particularly in the track “Trash City”.

These guys don’t waste time. This album is 8 tracks long, and none of them are over five minutes. Also, you like 90s vibes? These guys got 90s Vibes. Vibe here on Bandcamp.
